Six questions, four engines, and the same scoring both times. The July reading was taken before a single page of his site existed.

Read those two screenshots as an owner rather than as a case study. Somebody typed a question, and a machine answered it by handing them a way to pay the owner instead of a platform. The same question is being asked about your town tonight, and the answer is whatever the engines can currently find about you.
In July, the same question sent his guests to a dead link
The 26 July baseline was recorded before anything was built, and it is kept exactly as written. Asked who to book, one engine invented a web address that led nowhere. One told the traveller to go and find a portal. One said plainly that no such website existed. One recommended other stays at i-City that a guest could book direct. Twelve discovery questions across four engines came back with his name in none of them.
He was already an excellent host. 4.8 and 4.9 across his two apartments, on 699 reviews between them. All of that lived on Airbnb, which meant every guest arrived through a channel that charges him for the privilege.
Thirteen points moved. Twelve of them on the question that ends in a booking.
Scoring was frozen in advance. 0 absent · 1 mentioned · 2 recommended with a reason · 3 it is the answer.

The second bar moves on reviews, listings and links, which run on months rather than weeks. That is the reason to start now rather than the reason to wait, because of what the answer looks like when it finally arrives.
Not a directory. Two or three names out of everything in the town, and the same handful gets repeated to everyone who asks. Almost nobody in any given building is on that list yet. The operator who gets there first is the one who was already on the page when the engines went looking.
The engines learned his buildings before they learned his brand
This is the part worth taking away, and it decided the whole build.
Every engine that found him volunteered Hyde Tower and Liberty Tower as separate things. ChatGPT gave each tower its own link and told the reader to confirm which one they were getting. Gemini listed them as two line items, each footnoted to its own page. Google’s own search data agrees: the queries bringing people to his site are hyde tower, liberty tower, hyde tower i city.
His site did not exist yet. There was nothing on the internet holding the words his guests were typing.
One page per building, each named after the tower rather than the business.
That decision is the reason this repeats. A page per building works the same way for a condo in Bayan Lepas, a shophouse in George Town and a serviced apartment block in KL, which is what turns one result into a method.
The Bayan Lepas example is literal. A second operator in Penang is running on the same frozen method right now, seven stays across four areas, with her questions and her scoring sealed on 21 August in exactly the same way. Her second reading is due on 23 September. One result is a story. Two is a method, and the second one is already running.
On 15 September this stops being theoretical
Airbnb moves the last Malaysian hosts onto a 15.5% host fee that day. On a RM 220 night that is RM 34.10 out of every booking, taken before the money reaches you.

A RM 600 monthly fee needs 53 shifted nights, and a one-unit operator only has thirty in the month. It needs four empty ones filled.

Why we started with two operators instead of twenty clients
We could have sold this a year before we could prove it. Plenty do. Instead we took two operators, wrote the questions down before touching anything, sealed the scoring, and published whatever came back.
Rauf's two apartments at i-City were the first. Seven stays across four parts of Penang are the second, sealed on 21 August, read again on 23 September. One result is a story. Two is a method.
A method is the only thing that reaches the rest of you. There are thousands of rooms in this country let by people who answer their own messages, and not one of them can carry an agency retainer priced for a hotel group. The whole point of proving it on two is that the third, and the three hundredth, get the same thing at a price a two-apartment owner can actually pay.
Rauf went first, on a scoring sheet that could have made us look foolish in public. That is worth saying out loud.
