Hyde Tower is the block closest to the bridge.
Hyde Tower is one of six residential towers inside i-City, and the nearest block to the wax museum and to the covered bridge that walks you straight into Central i-City mall, which, on a wet evening, is the whole difference between going out and staying in. My flat here is a one-bedroom SoHo of 41.6 square metres, sleeping up to three.

The building
What Hyde Tower is.
Worth knowing, because at i-City the tower decides more about a stay than the flat does.
Hyde Tower is one of six residential towers inside the i-City precinct, and one of the three newer ones named after cities, Liberty for New York, Parisien for Paris, and Hyde for London's Hyde Park. All were built by i-City Properties, the property arm of the company behind the theme park itself.
Two things about the building matter once you're staying in it. It has 36 residential floors sitting on top of a six-storey car park, so your reserved bay is inside the building you sleep in rather than a public deck you queue for. And it's the nearest residential block to the covered walk into Central i-City mall, the wax museum is on the same side. More on the six towers and how the precinct is laid out.

- Getting in

Self check-in with a lockbox, any time from 3pm.
Nobody to meet and no key handover to arrange. I'd rather you let yourself in at midnight after a late flight than sit waiting for me, so the code and your bay come through before you travel.
- Sleeping

A queen bed, plus a folding mattress for a third.
Built-in wardrobe, dressing table, room-darkening blinds. One bedroom and one and a half bathrooms, so three people getting ready in the morning is not a negotiation.
- The internet

A 120 Mbps fibre line, the fast one of my two.
It carries a video call and someone streaming in the next room at the same time, which is why guests working in Shah Alam take this flat for a week or a month at a stretch.
- Parking

One free bay in the building, reserved for you and included.
This is the one that changes a Saturday. The public bays around i-City fill well before the lights come on; you drive straight in, park under cover and go up in the lift.
- The kitchen

A real one, hob, hood, fridge, microwave, kettle, sandwich griller.
Cabinets, dishes, cutlery, cooking basics, a washing sink, and a washer with a drying rack behind the door. It's why a fortnight here is genuinely liveable rather than a hotel with a hotplate. If you want an oven, Liberty is the one.

Sign into your own account. The console is the thing families forget to ask about and then use every night.
- The building

Shared pool, gym and hot tub, and a BBQ grill.
The pool is the large outdoor one, open year-round during set hours. There's a convenience store at Level UG and a food truck outside the lobby, which covers most of what you'll want at eleven at night.

With a washer, a working kitchen and that connection, this unit takes a month better than most serviced apartments its size.
Hyde or Liberty
The differences that actually decide it.
Both are one-bedroom SoHos for up to three, both have a free reserved bay, self check-in, a washer and a covered walk to the mall. Four things separate them.

Short version: take this one if you are working or there are three of you. Take Liberty if you would rather cook and sit somewhere nicer.
People pick this one for the walk. You come out of the lift, cross the bridge, and you're in the mall, no road, no umbrella. The other one is a nicer room to sit in; this is the easier one to stay in.
